"Who is Stella?" you ask. Well, dear readers, this is Stella... My new project.
I started The Stargazer by Mirabilia on Valentine's Day and have been stitching on her since, all through IHSW. She's stitched on Silkweaver's Starquest Reflections Belfast and is to date the design with the most bling that I've ever attempted. I must admit all those beads are making me a little nervous but I'll only worry about that when the time comes.
By the way, what is your usual stitching process for Mirabilias, Lavender & Lace, Passione Ricamo, etc. designs? Do you start at the top, bottom, left or right? Do you finish the head, the dress or perhaps even the background first? Do you stitch the skin as soon as you could or leave it for last? Do you stitch the skin as charted or do you prefer it over one? These questions popped into my head while working on Stargazer and I'd love to hear your answers.
As you can see, I started at the middle and headed straight for Stella's head/face immediately. I've stitched her skin over one. I just love the delicate effect of over one skin. With the exception of Garden Verses, I usually complete the face first as I like to see who I'm stitching and watch her grow. Besides, I dread stitching the fiddly skin and since the hair usually contains confetti stitches, I'd rather get those out of the way as soon as possible. The only reason I've not stitched the skin on Garden Verses is because it consists of a big area and I've yet to decide how I'm gonna go about it. That amount of one over one scares me. LOL!
Technically, The Stargazer is not on my WiPocalypse list but in my opinion, that's the beauty of WiPocalypse. I'm allowed to start anything I want because after all, the world might end soon and I ain't about to miss my chance to do so :P
Anyway, I've been seeing stitchers posting photos of their ort jars on their blogs which reminds me that it's once again time for TUSAL. Here's my ort jar:
It now contains plenty of clippings from Home of A Needleworker (Too)! and of course The Stargazer.
One last thing, I've removed Blogger's new, impossible-to-read word verification from my comment section. I've been getting spam since removing it but I'd rather my visitors not have to go through that just to leave me a comment. Believe me, I know how frustrating and annoying it can be. Don't you just hate it when people try to fix something that isn't broken? Sigh!

Stella looks lovely. I have the pattern, but have never started her. I have no idea why, but maybe one day. :-)
She's beautiful! I too removed the word verification. I receive copies of comments n my email, so I can easily catch those that are spam and delete them.

What a fantastic fabric you use for Stella. It´ll be very beautiful.
I usually like to get the face/head and hair stitched first but I stitch it over 2.

Usually when I stitch a Mirabilia or L&L I tend to start in the middle (like I always do) and go down from there. I usually leave the head/face for last as I don't like them watching me while I stitch.
I don't usually do their skin over 1 as even though I love the look of it I'm not a fan of stitching over 1.
Stella is gorgeous! I always start in the center of the design and save my beading until last. I know there are some who like to bead as they go along but then I find the beads are a problem on my frame.
She's beautiful Veronica! I think she was one of my very favorites that I stitched. I start with the faces now because like you, I don't enjoy the hair. LOL! The beads on her really aren't that bad. Nothing like Sabrina!

With large projects like this, I like to start in the top left corner or top center and work my way down. I haven't done any face/skin over 1 yet.

Ahhh, there she is!! She's gorgeous, Veronica.
Me... I always start from the bottom left, Chatelaines being one of the few exceptions. Since I stitch 1 color at a time, it's just however the colors build in what I can reach on the scroll frame. As a result, the faces are usually one of the last things I stitch on a Mira.
Stella looks gorgeous! That fabric really sets her off and I love the detail of the over 1 skin. She looks like a joy to stitch. She is in my to do pile! I usually start in the middle. I worry about counting wrong and not having enough fabric!
Stella looks like she's off to a great start!! I received this chart from a friend for my birthday recently and have already purchased some fabric from Polstitches for her. I can't wait to get her started, but have a couple of other pieces I need to finish first.

I tend to start projects if I can top left... if I can't top center... and if I can't do that start at the center and I tend to work my way down. I like to get those big skirts out of the way!

Thank you for visiting my blog! Stella looks very pretty already :) For most designs I start in the middle and work my way out, for mirabilia's up to their head, so I don't start off centre. However if the design has a border I might measure in 3 or 4 inches and start on a corner instead.
She looks so beautiful! It's a great idea to start with the face - you can't stop now when she is waiting!
